Najve\u0107i deo \u017eivotnog ciklusa provodi u zemlji, u stadijumu larve, gde se hrani floemskim sokovima korena biljaka doma\u0107ina. Zbog toga prisustvo odgovaraju\u0107ih biljaka doma\u0107ina predstavlja klju\u010dni faktor za opstanak i brojnost populacija ove vrste u prirodi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ova vrsta je \u0161iroko rasprostranjena i naseljava razli\u010dite tipove stani\u0161ta, od mediteranskih i priobalnih podru\u010dja do kontinentalnih livada i otvorenih stani\u0161ta. Me\u0111utim, njena distribucija nije odre\u0111ena isklju\u010divo klimatskim i geografskim uslovima, ve\u0107 prvenstveno dostupno\u0161\u0107u biljaka doma\u0107ina. Najve\u0107e gustine populacija \u010desto se javljaju na ivicama poljoprivrednih parcela, me\u0111ama i sli\u010dnim stani\u0161tima gde su prisutne odgovaraju\u0107e biljne vrste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Razvojni ciklus je usko povezan sa korenovim sistemom biljaka. Larve se razvijaju na korenovima vi\u0161egodi\u0161njih korova, a zavr\u0161etak razvi\u0107a i pojava odraslih jedinki obi\u010dno se de\u0161ava krajem prole\u0107a i po\u010detkom leta. Nakon izlaska na povr\u0161inu, odrasle jedinke se kratko zadr\u017eavaju na biljci doma\u0107inu, a zatim prelaze na druge biljke, tokom \u010dega dolazi do prenosa patogena. Primarna infekcija vektora ostvaruje se ve\u0107 u larvalnom stadijumu, preko korena zara\u017eenih biljaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Me\u0111u biljkama doma\u0107inima posebno se izdvajaju <em>Convolvulus arvensis<\/em> (poponac) i <em>Urtica dioica<\/em> (kopriva), na kojima je potvr\u0111eno da se odvija \u010ditav razvojni ciklus ove vrste. \u017denke pola\u017eu jaja u pukotine zemlji\u0161ta u blizini ovih biljaka, a larve se nakon piljenja razvijaju na njihovim korenovima. U pojedinim delovima areala zna\u010dajnu ulogu ima i <em>Vitex agnus-castus<\/em> (konopljika), na kojoj su \u010desto zabele\u017eene agregacije odraslih jedinki, dok je kao biljka doma\u0107in potvr\u0111ena u mediteranskom regionu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Hyalesthes obsoletus<\/em> je glavni vektor fitoplazme <em>\u2018Candidatus Phytoplasma solani\u2019<\/em>, uzro\u010dnika bolesti stolbur. Njegova uloga u \u0161irenju patogena direktno je povezana sa biljkama doma\u0107inima, koje \u010desto istovremeno predstavljaju i rezervoare patogena.
